The Queen’s Speech: Construction Contracts Bill included

Mixed emotions: love it or hate it, the new Construction Contracts Bill is coming our way.

In today’s Queen’s Speech, the Government announced that the Construction Contracts Bill will be part of the legislative agenda for the year ahead. (It will be part of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Bill.)

Jonathan Cope, Director, MCMS Ltd:

“Despite my reservations about the draft Bill, I welcome the inclusion of the Bill in the Queen’s Speech. The current rules need reform and now Parliament will have an opportunity to implement changes.”

We wrote about the proposed changes on adjudication and payment earlier this year, when the draft Bill was first published. Building has reported the Bill remains largely unchanged.
